#017 - Pre-RAYA

Sunday, September 5, 2010 Posted by Unta@Jitra 0 comments
6:15 AM and it is cold.

Pardon me for the lack of post lately. Yeah I deserved the smallest piece of 'the' pie sebab jarang update HA HA HA. Got nothing to share maa... copy pasta was not my cuppa.

So you guys Raya mood already? Got pasangs and pasangs of baju raya? All teh cookies?

Dah bayar ZAKAT FITRAH?

Hehe

This year, I'll be celebrating raya in a new way. As a married man. It was decided months before, during our plane ticket hunting, that this year, 1st day of Raya to 3rd would be in Kedah, the rest of the week will be in Sarawak.

This was the first time, I have to consider my Raya plan. Before this, all I needed was a date and I will either take a bus or hitch a ride with my Kedah friends. This year however was a bit more than that. Apart from getting a bargain plane ticket fare, compromises had to be made.

With only 3 days worth of Raya for me in Kedah, some SERIOUS planning is needed. Day 1 will be the balik kampung day. Usually, after Raya Prayer, my family will visit both my grandparents house. It was easy for us since both houses were in Kedah. Day 2 will be 'me and my friends' raya day. Day 3 onwards usually filled by a mix of friends and relatives, either hosting or we become a guest ourselves.

I'm planning to make use of the telecommunication tech available to optimize my Raya in Kedah. Including FACEBOOK and Twitter!

Status Update: Open House rumah aku weihh!! Mai2... Nasik Beriani tuu~~!

Or something along that line kot. Hehe

So there you go... another lame attempt to make sure I will not get kicked from writing here. Just wanna take this opportunity to wish you a prosperous Eid, and mintak ampun dari hujung rambut ke hujung kaki if any of my posts / comments menyentuh mana2 pihak. Tidak disengajakan.

Cue music - Dalammmm dingin subuhhhhh~~

#016 - Puasa Juge

Thursday, August 12, 2010 Posted by Unta@Jitra 1 comments

Ahh semua org buat post pasal Bulan Ramadhan... I want to join the bandwagon too (sambil dengan tanpa malu dan segan menghijack post dari Ms. Thursday lol)

Takpe, persetujuan dah ade :)

Anyway, cakap pasal bulan puasa, nombor satu yg teringat dalam kepala mestilaa pasar/bazar Ramadhan. Makanan macam2 jenis, macam2 kaler, macam2 rasa, macam2 bentuk.

Tahun demi tahun rasa macam tu laa, sedap. Cuma harga sajalah yang berbeza, makin naik hahaha. Sama jugak macam stall yang konfem tak sedap / tak kena dgn selera kita. So dah mark dah yg mana sedap / tak sedap based on tahun2 lepas punya pengalaman.

Kita kena tau tukang jual ni memang tiap2 hari sold out ka, gulai sampai 2-3 kawah. Kalo tak habis, maka slim chance lah dia nak masak yang baru. Takkan nak buang yang lama. Memang kari2 ni lagi lama lagi sedap, tapi kalau recycle sampai seminggu, bole masuk spital dah silap2 keracunan.

3) Macam hari pertama semalam, fuhh semua kedai mcm sold out. Selalunya awal2 puasa ni, better survey lah dulu and mark siap2 kedai mana sedap, kedai mana tak etc. Try tengok beli. Kalau tak sedap, esok jangan cuba2 dah sebab quality kebanyakan kedai makin lama makin turun.

4) Beli sekadar termampu. Memang nafsu kita ni kalau hidu asap ayam percik, bukan main lagi. Rasa macam boleh telan sampai 4-5 ketul. Itu belum masuk popia, murtabak, mee goreng, bihun sup, nasik lagi. Perut manusia ni limited spacenya. Memang afdal sangatlah kalau beli sekadar satu main dish dan sejenis kuih. Air buat sendiri kat rumah. Sahur nanti makan sajalah apa2 biskut ka megi ka. Tak payah nak sedapkan nafsu tu yang kata "Alah kalo tak abis, bole makan time sahur nanti". Itu pon kalo bangun. Kalo tak bangun, masuk peti ais. Lama2 ke tong sampah jugaklah. Jimat cermat.

5) Kalau hampa2 ni kaki makan kat luar, haa booking tu kena awal sikitlah. Berebut2lah. Kalo miss booking, beli air dan sembahyang Maghrib dulu. Rilek kalo perut tu dah bole tahan 12-13 jam, takkan lagi setengah jam pon nak bising dah.

Ok nanti kita sembang pasal Pre-Raya plak. Selamat meraikan kehadiran Ramadhan dengan beramal seikhlas mungkin.

#015 - Living in Klang Valley

Monday, August 2, 2010 Posted by Unta@Jitra 6 comments
Sorry for the lack of post recently (by me). Got nothing to share resulting in a halfway written post every single time. Yeah nothing really interesting things to share.

So this year, it is my 5th year living in this central region. 4 and a half years in KL and the rest in Putrajaya. My achievements? Well I know the roads in KL, planted like Google Maps in my head. How about visiting places of interest in KL? That's the issue here.

We'll start by the famous Point of Interest in KL (that I've never been there before).

1) Muzium Negara - Never been there. I tried so many times during weekends to be there but always ended up going to malls and Jalan TAR instead.

2) Istana Budaya - Been dreaming to get a ticket for Puteri Gunung Ledang musical. No gang means no go.

3) Balai Seni Lukis Negara - I'm no artist. I can't even appreciate abstract art and whatnot. But to be there at least once, maybe I can get to know how artist mind works.

4) Lake Garden - AKA Taman Tasik Perdana. I've been to the neighboring Orchid and Hibiscus Garden but not the Lake itself. Is there anything interesting there?

5) Tugu Negara - National Monument. Sigh I guess I'm not patriotic enough to visit this place. Someday, with my arsenal of cameras, I will be there.

6) Dewan Filharmonik Petronas - Been wishing to visit there at least once, you know like enjoying some live orchestra or something. Up to date, the closest place I've been is at the PETT foyer.

7) Pusat Sains Negara - Too far maybe (alasannn). I planned to be there during the recent Leonardo Da Vinci showcase but got last minute change of plans.

And I'm proud to say that the places not listed above, I've been there :)

I always thought that KL is a bit boring but man I was wrong. Boring in the sense of visiting the same malls over and over again. So for those living in Klang Valley, appreciate KL and go visit those places. What you think all those attractions are for old people only ka? Hahahaha

So fellas, if you do have some serious plans to go in the place listed above, ring me. The more the merrier.

#013 - Bola²

Thursday, July 1, 2010 Posted by Unta@Jitra 1 comments
Sempena demam World Cup 2010, meh nak story sket perihal bola selaku peminat bolasepak yang tak seberapa hardcore.

Aku start didedahkan dgn bola sepak waktu sekolah rendah lagi. Bukan sebab aku terer, tapi sebab aku ni kaki bangku. Maka jeles teramatlah kt star2 bola waktu tu. FYI Akmal Rizal is my schoolmate, mmg budak ni terer main dari dulu lagi.

Jadi bila dah tak reti sepak, maka terpaksa lah main bola kertas pakai kotak rokok / kotak ubat nyamuk atau kotak2 lain yang bole dilipat. Aku tau liga Italy dlo dari EPL, Lazio, Sampdoria, Fiorentina etc sebab semua team liga bola kertas ni ada pasukan Serie A masing2.

Liga bola kertas / kotak... lipat saja

Masuk sekolah menengah. Masih tak reti2 nak pegi tengok Kedah FC main di Stadium Darulaman walopon time tu Kedah FC agak berjaya. Time sekolah menengah form 1, 1994, dah ada World Cup.

Form 1, mana tau lagi pasal World Cup... sungguh slowpoke.

Waktu tu aku just join the flow. Rasa teringin nak tengok final antara Brazil (feveret ramai) VS France (bole kata underdog jugaklah). Sapa tak heran bila France tapau Brazil time tu.

Fast forward sebelum masuk U, aku teringin nak tengok kehebatan game CM maka, beli laa satu lanun punya (waktu tu kedai PC game pirate belambak sangat2). Maka terjebaklah aku dengan satu ketagihan yang maha dahsyat, lagi dahsyat dari nikotin (can be taken together while playing the game lol). Aku ehem*menangEVERYTHING*ehem bila pakai Arsenal hahaha.

Ni CM versi agak baru, yang aku men versi berapa tah

Masa masuk U, ada PC baru, sekali lagi terjebak walaupon time tu, CounterStrike pon sama naik. Hasilnya, keputusan CGPA yang xberapa membanggakan.

Masa bermain CM lah pengetahuan aku pasal bola makin meluas. Kenal habis segala star player.

Minat sikit saja. Tak sefanat sampai beli jersey ori atau gantung poster permain terhandal (sedikit ghey bila terkenang penggantung2 poster bola). Minat tengok gameplay, minat tengok jaringan yang hebat2, minat tengok keeper terbang save bola yang hebat2, minat tengok player bergaduh.

Kalau letak rating 0 (HARAM TAK MINAT LANGSUNG) kepada 10 (SUPERFANAT KO KUTUK TEAM AKU AKU BUNUH KAOOO), aku maybe dekat 5. Team feveret kalah? Tarahal... tahun depan try lagi. Tak pernah pulak aku emo pasal bola.

So sekarang, 2010, tahun World Cup. Aku dah kahwin, dah ada bini. Dah ada TV, dah ada rumah sendiri. Tahun ni aku terasa nak try tengok apa rasa peminat2 bola sepak bila tengok live matches.

The greatest game on earth? You bet!

P/S: Aku sokong Netherlands. GO ORANJE!

Make Up Entry #1: Eh..married?

Thursday, June 24, 2010 Posted by dueng 5 comments
Yes I am.

No, I yet to have walimah done on both side.

Yes, I just akad nikah or in Malay called it "nikah gantung".

No, aku nikah dengan manusia...bukan gantung. Whatever.

It's a decision I made to keep my marriage quiet from all people (well, not all since I have to inform my family and officemate to take up my work). Why?

1) Cause I yet to have the walimah done. I feel that it is not proper for me to bang the drum when the ceremony wasn't even there.

2) I have some superstition that when I'm overexcited over something, it usually failed miserably. Past record shown that most of my relationship ended up when I'm surfacing the relationship to the world. That's also included this relationship...nearly broken but somehow we managed to get hold onto it. Credit to her for being so patient with my kerenah.

3) The nikah ceremony was done amongst family. It's a very small ceremony hence I think it's not appropriate to get people rushing to Kuantan on Thursday just to see me get married. You guys could save the holiday for walimah later. Owh...the ceremony was on 10/06/2010, Thursday.

4) Walimah InsyaAllah will be held in October, most probably end of October. So, save up your annual leave ye. Why October? That's the only month that I will be free in between 2 budget cycle.

I know some people get offended by it. Some just happy for me. Some just feel nothing. Well, I couldn't help how you feel but if I do offend you in any way, I'm sorry.

Lastly, a picture from photoshoot kat perkampungan nelayan Tanjung Lumpur. Gambar selebihnya boleh tengok kat FB.

#012 - Japan GT (Super GT)

Monday, June 21, 2010 Posted by Unta@Jitra 2 comments
This is going to be a heavy load post (with images). Dial-up users be warned! (that was so 98's yo)

(Writing during Portugal - North Korea match) edit: kenot konsentret, 7-0 HOHO

Photobucket
Got awesome ticket, thanx Iyayy

Yesterday, I was in Sepang, watching Super GT (previously known as Japan GT). It was a spontaneous plan, suddenly I had this 'I have to go' feeling while getting my haircut. Ada geng, jalannn~

I always wanted to watch 'any' event at Sepang International Circuit, but due to laziness and no transport (and maybe cash), it was only a dream, well at least until yesterday.

Photobucket
I was HERE! Finally.

And I should have bought a pair of earplugs.

First I thought, meh this tuned road legal car, how noisy could it be? IT WAS FREAKIN LOUD! It was the loudest sound I've ever heard. I iz noob, I know... now.

A friend of Iyayy said last year was more happening, well I dunno. A bit boring I might say, with few canopies of company selling official merchandise, as well as those show off rich guys with their VIP tag and millions of RM car.

Photobucket
Like this Lambo

Photobucket
Or this car (race car)

Oh and a freakin expensive bottle of water (and all other foods).

I noticed a stage with lotsa photogs waiting. I thought they got this concert or something going but boy I was wrong. The MC started shouting 'Miss Yuka' or 'Miss Minami' or along that line and then I realized it was a stage for the famous Race Queens.

Photobucket
No.1

Photobucket
No.2 (EVA freak anyone?)

Photobucket
No.3

With FZ28 in hand, thinking that I could 'tapau' those DSLR in front, I started to snap and snap. Pity, most of the girls were not that 'iklan' cute. Not that I cared so much, it was freakin hot out here and I lost RM6 buying some flavored water.

After filling my SD Card with lotsa blurred photos, we headed to the grandstand, because the race was about to start. The race started with warmup session, and the cars started entering their respective position. More photog and public event (like meeting the driver and race queens stuff), after that ROLLING START!

Photobucket
Getting ready

Call me noobs but I couldnt enjoy the race so much because the thing was, both GT500 (500HP cars) and GT300 were racing at the same time. And I just didnt know how to cheer haha. Well, at least watching fast cars was interesting.

Photobucket
During the race

Photobucket
It was very hard to get a clear shot of a moving (damn fast) cars.

I thought my first time coming here in SIC was good enough, but hell the seating area was not well maintained. Felt a bit ashamed to those foreigner, with dirty chairs and all. This was not exactly what world class circuit looked like. One photog overheard Iyayy and me talking about the next year event and he joined our conversation, saying that maybe Singapore next year. Which means that no more Japan GT in Malaysia after this (since this race is considered Special Stage, the only race outside Japan).

Served us right. Clean the whole circuit for God's sake.

Photobucket
After race.

My target after this, F1... maybe

#008 - 40th post yeah!

Monday, May 10, 2010 Posted by Unta@Jitra 3 comments
Wow... 40th post already!

Anyway yesterday was Mother's Day and it just so happened that I was in Kedah. I've been a bad boy because last time I was in Kedah, it was 4 months ago. No excuses I know, and being there, enjoying mom's foods and having a great time shopping for my lil sis (coz she's going to Matrik) was great.

I have to be back regularly.

Being in your true home sweet home, it was a nice treatment for the soul and trim out those stress by tonnes. I had the time for visiting my old granpa and having a laugh when he asked to see his 'cicit' hahaha. We're working on that Tok Wan! Went around the Tok's house showing Rozie the place where it used to be my playground when I was still a kid.

The well... it was covered by bushes now but who could forget the coldness of well water? I was so refreshing. Used to, and now they have metered water supply already :)

Before we went back to Putrajaya, Rozie and I bought a special something for Mak. A nice handbag and a water heater. So mak, no more jerang air atas stove lagi lepas ni hehe. I felt good, looking at mak's face. Yeah we didnt have a time to taste the laksa yesterday, but tapau we had.

And tonight, we are going to have laksa for our dinner!

Oh I also bought 2 big bottles of Kicap Maju and Teh Wangi Rose. Only available in Kedah.

Mak's Ayam Percik is still the BEST! Love you Mak! Will be back in June InsyaAllah

#005 - Weekends

Monday, April 19, 2010 Posted by Unta@Jitra 2 comments
Ah another boring post... it is funny to imagine you readers, looking to cure your Monday Blues, read the latest entry by the ever mediocre Monday writer, only to curse because it is that bad.

LOL

So I shall write and post after working hours.

(This is not an elaborated attempt to cover my late submission)

Weekends... yeah those 2 free days. You have only about 8 days in a month to put them in good use. Some chose to turn off their phone and sleep... some chose travelling, shopping, spring cleaning and whatnot.

My personal thought of these 2 days: They are important and a good planning is never a bad idea. I just have to do something productive on weekends, maybe because my irregular work hours during weekdays. Most of the time, my weekends consist of

1) Kenduri - have to sort out the priority. Usually, good buddies come first. If you were in my reception, I'll be in yours (if invited hehe)

2) Jalan-jalan di KL a.k.a. books hunting. Central Market is me n Mrs first choice. Got a nice collection for a action thriller fiction maniac like me, and romance for Rozie. Apart from that, meeting some old friends, and makan²

3) Cooking - Rozie will try some recipe found in the internet, mostly including castor sugar and butter :D, and me with mouth wide open

4) Balik kampung - I tried to balik kampung at least once a month, and still trying. Minta ampun mak! Labour's day ni InsyaAllah

5) Damn... writer's block... OMG...

...

...

So on another story, I was in Sungai Klah Hot Springs park yesterday, attending Family Day (Rozie's co) and I must say it was quite a nice place. Only 2 hours from KL and if you're looking for a place to relax, this is a pretty nice spot.

It has everything ranging from spa therapy, hot spring pool (yeah, can mandi and swim in there), eggs boiling activity, water reflexology, and a big nice water park. I think it was a good move by Felda to promote and develop such place.

For more info, you can just click this link.

I'm signing out now, I'll try to be more creative in the next entry :D

#004 - Housewarming

Monday, April 12, 2010 Posted by Unta@Jitra 3 comments
Hello Monday

It was my housewarming 'kenduri' last Saturday night, with a good record of attendance (minus a good number of absentees as well). It was our (me and Mrs) 'niat' to hold a dinner party at our new house here in Putrajaya and it went well. Guests were having fun, food was a bit more than enough but damn tasty (special thanx to Rozie, Haida and her friend for the round the clock chefs).

Overall, it was a success, and will be repeated again :)

Tips for holding a good housewarming party:

1) Enough food for everybody - Make sure the food is enough. If you're afraid of over budget, carefully take note of the attendance + half of the number. You'll never know who will have a big appetite :D. If you're thinking of serving squids, they SHRINK once cooked! It is always a good idea to minimize the menu and balance them out by the taste. Rice with 2 'lauk' dishes, 1 veggie, fruits and dessert are a good count.

2) Make sure the guest are having a good time - Being a host is a commitment. Always make sure they are well entertained since not all of the guest know each other yet. Make an introduction for an ice breaker. Turning on TV might hinder socialization but if there was a good football match, turn it ON. To avoid an awkward moment, try not to invite an ex-gf with ex-bf, or something like that.

3) Timing and duration - Is it dinner or lunch? A good idea is to have dinner since you can prepare the menu in the morning.

4) Enough plates, utensils, cookware - Before planning, make sure you have everything in the kitchen and on the dining table prepared. Extra clean plates don't hurt.

5) Pitcahhhss

1) Adeq NOMNOMNOM

2) Chefs didapur

3) The foods + Choc Brownies

4) Wear bersama Syukies

5) Sean ralit tgk TV sambil NOMNOM

6) Most of the guests

2010 Hot Air Baloon, Putrajaya

Thursday, March 25, 2010 Posted by Soraya Zainal 8 comments
This is the second post I wrote for this blog today. My first post is wiped out. Don't asked why...

* * * * * * * * * *

After so much hooha I heard from the first Hot Air Balloon event, I decided to attend the event this year at the last minute. A friend of mine managed to drag me out of my comfortable bed on a nice Saturday afternoon.

The fiesta was held at Precint 2, Putrajaya near Monumen Alaf Baru from 18th to 21st March 2010.  Upon seeing the banner, I cringed.

1 World, 1 Malaysia, 1 Fiesta

Why must every tagline started out with the number "1" nowadays? "1" is overrated. Okay, don't kill me... it is just a matter of preference... no?

We arrived at the spot at at 5.15pm and no hot air balloon was visible as all the balloons were still inflated. Only helium balloons of Mickey Mouse and Hello Kitty were everywhere being sold by the street vendors. If I was 20 years younger, I will surely bugged my parents to buy it for me.

Following the throngs of DSLR owner, we get to stand nearby the arena. I choose not to enter the field for Photo Ops as I only owned a P&S camera, not cool enough to mingle with the DSLR owner at the field. Hehehe...

When we arrived, the pilot (as what the DJ pronounced) with their team were firing up the inflated balloons. It was not an easy task, I can assure you. It took about 15 minutes for every balloons to be filled up and we saw the pilot expertly glided the hot air balloons to the sky. It was a pretty sight and for me who loves height and adventure, I feel so jealous of people who can really be up there.

Brilliant colours!

My favourite balloon. Cuteness to the max!

My second favourite balloon.

Looks like an unhappy bald man on a beach vacation.

I love it, but I could not capture any better picture of this balloon.

A helium balloon was trying to steal the limelight. Heheh...

Last picture before I left Putrajaya.

From what I read on the blogosphere, there were many other balloons that were not available that afternoon. I saw pictures of Nescafe mug balloon, Levi's jeans balloons, Darth Vader (OMG!) balloons and many more...

We did not wait until the night show because the arena was too crowded and we were dehydrated.  We left around 7pm before the night show began. Yoda did attend the night show, so if he is nice... he might be sharing some of the fireworks and night show balloons picture next week :P *hint*hint*

I was tempted to get on the hot air balloons, but after seeing that the balloons that was available for public ride were tied to a controlling rope and we can only float for 20-35 meters, I lost my interest.

Will I attend the event next year? Maybe no, because the crowd was overwhelming and  the traffic was so bad (and I did not own a big ass DSLR camera). But, if they let the hot air balloons for public ride to fly free without the rope, I may consider my decision again. Heheh...

Soraya will upload some of the camwhore pictures taken during the event at her personal blog, sorayazainal.blogspot.com. It was too bimboish to be posted here :P
