Be A Man: Flirting - The Right Way

Monday, May 31, 2010 Posted by Anonymous 7 comments

I know, I know. I owe you guys three (maybe four) posts - sorry for the long lost. Usual reason, been overloaded with work (and nothing much happening for the last month). Anyway...

My girl has been disturbed by some childish kid with super-annoying-flirting-techniques that can make even Aphrodite laughing her lungs out (wait, does goddess of love have lungs?). Calls on midnights, fancy SMS with annoying shortform (you know how kids nowadays texting). See her rants here.

One word - pathetic. I am ashamed to have brethren in same gender but with an IQ of a monkey. Come closer guys, let me tell you the right way to flirt. Don't embarrassed me.

Tip #1: Check The Status.

The first rule of a real chivalrous man that we should adhere to - go for single woman. DO NOT GO FOR WOMAN WHO ALREADY HAVE A MAN.

If you do go for woman who already married or in a relationship,  it's either one out of these two indications:
  1. You will be severely injured by her man.
  2. You will only get a bitch, because only bitches entertain other man when he have a steady one. And you might still be severely injured.

The way to know her status? Ask. Don't be a chicken. Check Tip #2.

Enough said.

Tip #2: Be A Man.

Annoying shortform when texting doesn't work. Unless you're going to woo some primary school girls (which gives you a label of peadophiles - or a paedobear), short form that's hard to read is a big turn-off. Examples:
"sory wk gngu mlm2, sy xad niat pape myb nk kwn je, 2pon law owg kt sna sudi nk kwn ngn owg kt sni"
I mean, really, what the fuck?

If you want to call or text a girl, make sure you do it at a proper time. Calling while she's sleeping might get you a bitch-slap. That's not a manly thing to get. Or worst - a silent treatment.

If she doesn't want to be disturbed, then by all means retreat. Be a man. Enough said.

Also, to connect with women, show them that you appreciated their opinion, but at the same time, show them that you have your own opinion. Be a man and do not agree with all she's saying. Don't be a "yes" man. But, don't use harsh words or offend her.

Afraid of offending her? Use this kind of sentences..

"Cool opinion. I agree to some extend, but - no offense, I think that ".

Having said that, you know that you need stuffs to talk about. The normal "dah makan? tgh buat apa?" kind of thing is really meh. Talk about something. Football, games, manly things are also okay, but then asked their opinion about it. You cannot talk things about you really subtle.

No ideas? Here's one.

The World Cup is coming. Ask her how her family reacts to it. Ask her what's her favourite team, who's her favourite player, and why. Ask her if her brother, or father, will be fixed  in front of the TV's the whole night.

Simple.

Ask my girl what did I do to woo her. I was talking about games, books, the memes (like paedo bear, NOMNOMNOM? She doesn't know about that before she met me). It works as long as you have passion in something.

Tip #3: Create a Void.

So you have followed tip #1 and tip #2, eh?

The girl is single, and you get to connect with her by being a real man. You get along, she's replying your text, talking to you..

What's next?

Create a void. That's the most effective things to be done. It caught the girl's attention. Woman loves attentions and being pampered. So you've given that. You fill her time with your attentions. You chatted with her. You laugh with her. You listen to her.

Now stop doing that. Stop texting her for three days or so. Break the routines.

She will then missed you. Missed all the attention. Then she will start looking for you.

That's a win. If you have done such a significant efforts of wooing her, she will be looking for you. Guaranteed. If not, that just means you haven't put enough effort to create such a routine into her. Or she's just not into you.. (which then, refer Tips #2).

That's about it. Flirting is an art of itself to find the true love, so - make Aphrodite smiles. Go boy! :D

P/s: It's been a while since I've been a Love Guru - and it shows. How rusty. the skills have been.. LOL

Double Delights - Diabetic Attack!

Saturday, May 29, 2010 Posted by dueng 1 comments
Double posting from me this week. My apologies I couldn't make it last week. I was hospitalized due to high sugar blood level. My sugar blood level was 26.9 from normal at 5-9 for adult. The issue starts genetically cause my mom having diabetes since 1990. It's in the gene and with my obesity and chaotic meal schedule, the inevitable just ticking like time bomb. I was hospitalized for a week and recovering now resting at home.

My diet was ok from sugar POV but not from carb POV. I always work late hence dinner always late at night. I'm might not taking much carb for dinner but continuously, it contributes to the diabetic domino. The advice from my attending physician was to reduce my weight and it will greatly affect my diabetes issue. My obesity was the triggering point of the diabetic attack thus if I could get control of it, I should do just fine considering I'm still at young age and not addicted to soda/coke. And no more carb late at night for me.

It was a hellish experience though it was a tad bit fun having so much time for myself. I must confess, this is the first time I'm hospitalized hence everything was exciting for me. Haha.

My advice is check your family health background and identify your probable inherited disease cause it might get to you earlier than you thought. :D

Double Delights - Perihal Bola

World Cup 2010 is around the corner. Yes, I bet all the employer and wives in Malaysia having headache what will be coming next 5 weeks. I watched Nasi Lemak Kopi O at TV 9 this morning, the hosts discussing on World Cup 2010 effects on husband-wife relationship. As usual, the most coined argument is how wives need to deal with their husband obsession towards football for 5 weeks. The hosts went on and on discussing wives disturbed by this phenomenon.

Well, I couldn't agree how woman make World Cup such a big deal. It's like what the fuck.

If male could take it how "fast" female get dress, how "short" a window shopping could be every single day..can't female just gulp it down for 5 weeks every 4 years that male obsess with football? I know that not all men really have time to watch football and EPL when they get married or rather they just let it go hence I couldn't find the faulty in be less critical during next 5 weeks for men enjoying themselves with football.

I'm pretty pissed really when woman make it such a big issue of World Cup. Flame on! :D

The White Queen

Thursday, May 27, 2010 Posted by Soraya Zainal 0 comments
I better made this post quick before the accessibility to Blogger.com is lost again.

First of all, sorry for the missing post last week. I was busy with work and also with my personal matters. Huhu.. no excuse, but I know I had the effort :P

I was supposed to update this blog with a book review last week, The White Queen by Philippa Gregory. This is the third book I read from her. The other two was the famous The Other Boleyn Girl and The Other Queen. As I was always fascinated by the England royal family fictions, when I saw that book on 50% sale on Popular.. I bought it on a whim.

I expect the book will always be as its predecessor in the Tudor series, full with dark secrets(as Natalie Portman's character), backstabbing, incest and hopelessly devoted female (as ScarJo's character). I was so wrong.

The Cousin's War is a much better read than the Tudor series.

In one week time, I have re-read the book twice. While this book have been reviewed as the "nearest" Philippa ever get to sticking to the real history, I feel the book have a strong female leading character that did not make me feel "Owh, jahatnye die ni". It was fascinating, and I can feel it really happened at that particular times. Of course, there was the forbidden magic and the power of good witches.. but, I can accept that plot better than the evil queen plot.

I am bad at writing a book review, but if you are interested to know more about the book you can read it from this site http://www.philippagregory.com/thewhitequeen/twitter/ as the author have rewritten the book in twitter style and you can get the gist of the books in about 100 clicks or more :P

I love her writing because she can make the most polite conversation hurts.. Such as these in The Other Boleyn Girl.

"Good Evening , Sir John. I hope that you will accept a little gift from me.'
I should be honored, Your Majesty.'
I want to give you a little carved stool from my privy chambers. A pretty little piece from France. I hope you will like it.'
I should be grateful.'
It is for your daughter. For Jane. To sit on. She seems not to have a seat of her own but she must borrow mine."
Philippa Gregory (The Other Boleyn Girl)

That was how Philippa portrayed how Queen Anne Boleyn's dialogue with the father of Jane Seymour to stop his daughter from flirting with her then husband, King Henry VIII. Before the queen was beheaded, of course.

"Jane,' I said quietly.
She opened her eyes, she had been far away in prayer.
Yes, Mary? Forgive me, I was praying.'
If you go on flirting with the king with those sickly little smiles, one of us Boleyns is going to scratch your eyes out."
Philippa Gregory (The Other Boleyn Girl

..and this is how the queen's loyal sister warn Jane Seymour for the same cause. Heheh... I wish I was that articulate when I curse my exes infidelity :P

P/s: I will try to collect all her books as soon as my pocket permits :D

Some people loves when I wrote on MultipleEyes, they say they love this side of me that is capable of writing other than about my hate and anger. But, some of my loyal readers (loyalkah?) from my personal blog feels that I have lost my touch. But, seriously people... how can I write about my own negative feelings when I am contented and happy with my own life?

All About Donuts

Tuesday, May 25, 2010 Posted by Dils 3 comments

I woke up today cold and in a sudden need of a donut. I got low taste in donuts really, I never really care much about Big Apple or J.Co donuts. I do like Duren Duren from Big Apple though. However give me the donuts made by makcik yang sells their kueh mueh at the stalls by the side of the road any time. I can gobbled them up 3 or 4 (with guilt) at one go.

I think most of my family and my friends know my love for donuts. Seri now knows I love her mom fried home made donuts. Seriiii.... buat lah lagi untuk ku. Whenever I got back to JB my mom would buy donuts when she goes to the pasar tani, because she knows if I saw kueh mueh dalam plastik, the first think I will search is the donuts.

And my favorite stalls at Bukit Antarabangsa had now added kuih koci to their morning kueh. I am ecstatic. That is my second favorite kueh ever. I am also going to be diabetic if I am not going to limit myself to these morning snacks delights.

Back to the topic of donuts. I do love Dunkin Donuts though. I love picking out the many jelly donuts they have, cranberries, apple, vanilla and making it a game if what I picked up would match the taste I had set in my head. Sometimes I am dissapointed, but most of them contented. Its not the most delish donuts, but its not fluffy or soft like these new donuts. Those make me feel like spitting them back. I like my donuts a bit hard, and am not opposed to eat stale donuts. Like I said, I got lousy taste in donuts. But the one donut from Dunkin that never fail me, is Double Choc.

I like that it is messy, chocalatey and the texture is something like a slightly burnt cake. So yes, I think I am just fine with Dunkin Donuts. I am even thinking to get downstairs in a while and eat that Double Choc. Awesome.

Vampires here, does not sucks. Not literally.

Wednesday, May 19, 2010 Posted by Dils 2 comments
Note: Should be yesterday post. But laziness + fever does not make Dils a prolific blogger.

This is a very girly fan-sy post.

Vampire Diaries. It rocks.

I watched it initially because only because of Ian Somerhalder. Those who don't know him, need to see this and understand why come morning during the weekend, the first series I am itching to watch is Vampire Diaries.

The Hotness, It Burns. (I took that 'quote' from a forum btw)

At first it started kinda shaky. Everybody seems so cliche. The dreamy hunky vampire guy (reminisce of Angel), the bad boy (reminisce of Spike), Elena - (even seems to be abit like Sookit Stackhouse).

But then around episode 6 or 8, the series found it feet. And boy, it does so in time. The story does not meander. We can see the arc and the writers execute it nicely. Every episode ends with a cliffhanger, but the writers do not drag out the stories and beat it to a pulp. The characters, cliche as they were at first begin to branch out becoming more human, not caricature ( this is what 90210 does to their characters). A+ for character development. All of the characters are extremely likable, only 1 person make me feel stabby, but that maybe because she tried to kill Damon (Ian Somerhalder) so I am a tad bit bias. If I am so incline to channel TWOP Raoul the Gay Dragon I would say" DEATH TO THOSE WHO WOULD HARM OR TRY TO SINGED THE HOTNESS CURVED EYEBROWS!" (Sorry, that is an injoke for those who read TWOP recaps)

Like I said, I started to watch it to roll my eyes around, then the series begin to get quite good and compelling. Nowadays the first thing I looked forward comes weekend is eating breakfast while watching Vampire Diaries. It is that good.

Why does the show turned my dislike of the show to absolute love.

1. I like that most of what they show is not pointless. Most character and scenes have impact to the main cast and the ripples from these characters and scenes can be seen many episode onwards.

2. The characters is not pathetic nor ditzy. Elena is meh at first then become awesome. Caroline is irritating at first then become ... I couldn't find the word yet. Pathetic? (Edit later: Ops! I know. A many layered person. She have great range). They know their weakness, they don't revel in it, they try to make improvement. Hence great character development.

3. Got great supporting older cast.Gossip Girl, Rufus and Lily are just not necessary to be always to be thrown obstacles in their life while here Alaric, Jenna and Uncle John is extremely watchable. Well, Jenna may need some improvement, but they know where to push her into the scenes. And not incorporate a story just for a sake of a story for the actor, e.g. Rufus and Lily.

4. The hotness of the cast does help also la kan. Aside from Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley (Stefan) have quite a chiseled abs that he likes to show off, Zach Roerig (Matt) is lovable and of course the girls are extremely pretty.

5. The vampires do not sparkle.

The finale was fantastic and frustrating because I don't want **** nor **** to die! And I have to wait months before I know if they really 'kick the bucket'.

Lets hope Season 2 does not sucks.

Yeah, I totally wrote this while not feeling too right on the head.

Forgot already yesterday was Monday

haha

Ok now I'm going to talk about ants. Yeah those fukken ants. They are everywhere now here in my house, be it the big red ones (sakit gila kalo kena geget) and the small red ones (still annoying, bite also hurt) and the smallest one (when you 'penyek2' them with your fingers, it will get smelly).

Grr...

I had bad experience with ants, since like, 20 years ago maybe. One time after shower, I toweled myself, only to be 'greeted' by bazillions ants on my towel, and they bite me everywhere. From head to toe! From there, it was my ultimate lifetime goal to get rid of them anywhere I could see them.

I had no problem with the black ones. They didn't bite so it was OK.

I still remember one time in my dorm, there was a freakin red ant nest under my mattress! Armed with a piece of newspaper (got no Ridsect there), I simply lay the paper onto the nest and flatten it with my angry fist. I spared no one. Not even the unborn!!

And then we have this thing called karma.

The ants had been haunting me ever since. Wherever I go, stay or live, there will be those annoying little fella, everywhere. Can't remember any encounter in Setapak Indah though because of my strict 'never leave any sisa2 makanan on the floor' and 'always empty the rubbish bin' policy but here in the new apartment, well welcome back b****es!

Damn I'm angry!

My big Shieldtox is useless against them. You spray this morning and later that evening, business as usual. They even dare polluting my 'air masak' for God's sake! So at this shop yesterday, I bought the ultimate solution. For RM17, a box of the 'ubat semut'. You know that silver sachet you can find in 'Pasar Malam'. Well I bought a whole 30 sachets. I emptied 1 sachet before I even enter my house. The red big ones was forming a line to their nest maybe from outside.

Take that... eat all you can and suffer! May your queen die while producing those annoying troops! I called this operation : Final Solution!

Any other brilliant ideas? Using big lenses is slow and you need a direct sunlight. Blowtorch can set your house on fire. Pest control? Nah I think they play with the bigger rodents and anai2 types.

Go bug other homes!

If I can trade 10sen for every ants I killed, I'm a millionaire by now.

Limau Limau

Remember this picture I uploaded last week?

I was supposed to upload all the pictures yesterday, but the Internet was not on my side.. so here it is, my supposed-to-be-posted-on-Thursday post. Heheh...

2 weeks ago, I decided to visit a good friend of mine in Malacca and spend a night there. Since it was a long holiday, all decent hotels had been fully booked. Luckily, we got a room at a small hotel near Jonker Street.

So, bolehlah saya berangan jadi tourist kejap :P

As the breakfast provided at the hotel was not inviting, we decided to venture into a few of the small roads near our hotel... and taraaaa... we found this interesting, Parisian style place!

Limau Limau Cafe at Jalan Hang Lekiu... google it!

This quaint little cafe was decorated with colourful chandelier at the front bar and once we stepped into it.. we were overwhelmed with the array of little antiques, painting and artsy trinkets everywhere. Their mismatch and eclectic arrangement of decoration was very eye catching. Dils, since you love mismatch items.. you will surely love this cafe :D

The food choice was quite good with fruit drinks and a few type of bread for their sandwiches. Everything was home made! *yums*

Mushroom soup with croutons. No, that is not a coffee, that was the soup :P

Our healthy sandwich. I can't exactly remember the price, but the price was pretty reasonable.

We did not had much chances to try all their dishes because it was early in the morning and our stomach were not open for any adventures yet. Next time, I am sure to try all their famous fruit juices, lassi and also pasta.

Enough about the food, let's see this cafe decor...

The second floor of the cafe was said to overlook a mosque, but we dare not to sit at the pretty chair outside because the view was of graveyards at the mosque compound -_-"

The area leading towards the steep stairs to the first floor.

This cafe also have its own souvenir shops selling aromatherapy candles, candle holder and incense.
Do you see the stairs? Scarryyy...
Quirky signboard on the wall

Cafe walls decorated with paintings of naked ladies and mask (and hundreds of other eccentric items)

The background music played in the cafe remind me of Yellow Cab pizza outlet. Oldies, jazz, nothing modern and it swayed us back to the past.

This is a good place with good service that definitely deserve a second  visit. Those who are visiting Jonker Street, be sure to check this place out :)

Limau-limau Cafe
No.9, Jalan Hang Lekiu,

A picture to ponder..

So, very true....

The Con Is On!

Posted by dueng 3 comments
I take quite a liking into British series. I don't think it needed anymore explanation to it. It's different somehow. Another British series that I'm hooking up with is Hustle. To put it similar term to American series is Leverage but in more cooler way than Leverage. Hustle strictly about con man; and their long con game. Long con is con which involved complicated scheme than short con which always yield better results in term of monetary. Long con is like pyramid scheme. So, what so great about this series? First, it's all about long con. Second, it's all about 6 episodes per season. Yeah, shorter than mini series of American series. Third, it's brilliant.

The series itself doesn't involved much of hacking but more on social engineering and confident trick. The success of the con most of the time not involving hacking at all. I also found that the way they construct the con and the explanation come after the con successful just amazing. The emotion and dialogue is witty and real enough, unlike Leverage.

I just finish watching season 6 of Hustle. I found the cast of season 5 become better in term of chemistry and the con become more complicated. I like the mouse and cat games between Mickey Brick's team with Police and MI6. Brilliant, just brilliant. The witty dialogue and fourth wall breaking still there, make me feel at home. Season 6 brought back Kelly Adams (Emma) and Matt Di Angelo (Sean) with the original cast of Adrian Lester (Mickey), Robert Glenister (Ash) and Robert Vaughn (Albert).

What can I say? Just go and watch the season 6. :)

Tips On Conducting Presentation

Wednesday, May 12, 2010 Posted by Anonymous 4 comments
I am busy conducting classes to my customers these 3 days up until tomorrow. So I will just splurge on tips to conduct a good presentation.

1) Know your audience:

You need to know what ticks your audience. Are they technical persons? Are they inclined more towards academics? Are they more on marketing stuffs?

If you know what is the goal of the classes or presentation that you conduct, then you can know what type of peoples that will be attending the presentation. Communicate with your superior (who asked you to present or conduct the class) on what is the end in mind for conducting the presentation.

2) Know your stuffs:

You cannot present something that you don't know. If you don't know the stuffs you're supposed to present, you will be either

  • Reading the slides and makes your presentation boring.
  • Be shoot at with questions which affirmatively - you cannot answer.
Either way, you will make a fool of yourself :P

So be prepared. Ensure that you know your materials inside out. Ensure that you specify what scope that you will be covering. If you know the stuffs well, you won't have any fear.

3) Know your jokes:

Jokes are hard to make. Wrong jokes, you might offend somebody. No jokes, your class might be pretty dull. Personally, I rarely do jokes. Or maybe I did, but people can't understand my jokes. HAHA.

So, unless you have a talent for joking, be cautious of your jokes. Use questions instead. Ask your audience if they understand what they're presented with if they felt silence suddenly. Chances are, they don't.

When they do not understand, they'll asked you question. Then you will need to elaborate or answer in simple way to make them understand (refer #2). If they can understand what you're presenting, usually you'll see some nods of heads around. That might then bore you because you're the only one doing the talking.

So, what should you do to keep your class entertaining?

Ask them questions. Any relevant questions. Like:

  • How many of you are actually ?
  • Do you like doing programming / administration /
  • How do you feel about this subject ?

If there's no response, change your questions. Instead of asking them if they like something, ask them again if they don't like something.

4) Know yourself:

Presentation is all about communicating to people. You are people,  I am people, we are people. If you want to make an interesting presentation, you need to know yourselves why certain presentation feels interesting.

Chances are, your audiences are similar to you. It is highly unlikely that you're going to present something to random person (unless if you're in sales or if you're in  politics).

If you're a student of medicine, you will highly likely presenting medicines to your target audiences.

If I am a database administrator, chances are I am presenting to people who are interested in databases only.

So, you need to know what does an interesting presentation consists of. Usually, a good material that answers what you want to know; combined with a good two-way communications (Q&A session is enough); combined with some jokes and ways you communicates the ideas.

That is more than enough for you to do a presentation. If you hate a presentation, most likely you'll see why you don't like it.

So, replicate what you see when attending other people presentation in your own presentation. That's the key to success.

If you need to do presentations - I'd say, good luck! :D

Boring drolls about my kittehs

Tuesday, May 11, 2010 Posted by Dils 10 comments
In my own blog, sometimes I rambled on about my kittehs.

So for the readers here, who don't know my kittehs, one is called Fasha a tabby cat. The other one is tortoiseshell cat, we called Kurap.

Ini Fasha masa mula-mula kena kidnap dari bawah batu.

Now, Fasha is more of my husband cat. He found her when she was stuck under a rock and basically he looked after her then. And she came to live with us. But she only tolerated us like you might expect a petulant teenager would be in treating their elders, angrily, wanting for us to keep on giving them freedom while at the same time give them delicious food.

Fasha now. Like to give her owners haughty glances.

Of course if she was sick or afraid or cold or even wants something, the first thing she did was come to my side. Like I said, a petulant teenager.

Masa mula-mula Kurap came to our house. Hence, the name. And ok, at first she is kinda yucky. But also very pathetic.

Now Kurap, is more like a lost puppy. Even my family mentioned that she is like an obedient little dog. She will follow me wherever I go, even waiting outside of the bathroom and she will come or sit where I asked her too. Sometimes. She came to our home right after I had my miscarriage and I considered her my little blessing. While sometimes she exasperated me, but I would get really worried if she is not at home at the usual time.

Kurap sekarang. Gambar ini terlalu anime-ish.

And she had also now become very fluffy. The bulu kucing in our house is a constant rage point for my husband.

After Kurap had come into our life, Fasha seems to be peeing everywhere. At first we attribute it to behavioral issues. Being territorial of her ground. So we try to train her to the litterbox again and again without avail. We tried treats, punishment, shouting, and then basically resignation in considering in buying diapers for her. Then after I noticed some blood in her pee, then I took her to vet and found that she have some infection in her urinary tract which caused her some discomfort. Dekat sini la die kena masuk fluid and baru la nak menceceh cari tuan die to snuggle against from the pain. She is also being given pills for her infection.

Seems like the infection was caused because she likes to go out so much. And I really can't prevent her because she will find every possible way out. And as for cage, I hate seeing animals caged up. Its fine for a while, but I can't imagine an animal especially a cat who in their very nature like to prowl and move and play, being caged up 24 hours a day. And Fasha shared my sentiment. Whenever she are brought to the cage she will hiss and spat like the thing is some torture device. So we let her out, but at the same time, try to tempt her to stay more in the house.

At the same time since she did not like sharing litterbox with Kurap, we try to solve it by placing more litterboxes. Also it seems cats hate smelly litterbox, especially Fasha so she will usually try to avoid a litterbox that had been used or too smelly. My husband called her 'mengada'. So even though the instruction said if you used clumping litter (the litter sands will clump together when the cat peed or shat on the litter sands, so easy removal and more cheaper to the owners) you only need to clean it like once in 2 or 3 days, I don't think the cats like that very much. So at least once a day, you need to scoop em out. Disgusting. Dan selalunye my husband does it, hehe.

And as for Kurap, there is no problem so far. Which is why I don't mention her much. Except for the fleas problems she kept on getting. Geram aku. My husband had sprayed the anti-flea spray, and loads of kutus come off, but the next week, we found there is still some. We think the source might be from Fasha, and this time try to bath or spray them both with anti-flea spray / shampoo.

And a useful tips to cat owners which we recently found out: If you combined the crystal litter and the clay litter, there will be minimal smell and the pee will less likely to stick at the bottom of the litterbox, so you would not be rendered to gagging / passing out from the ammonia fumes and stinky poo whenever you are scooping their waste out.

Dils loves all animals really, but she can barely manage to keep these 2 hellions in her house. All other history about Fasha and Kurap is found at her other blog. She may mentioned them again if she run out of ideas to blog.

#008 - 40th post yeah!

Monday, May 10, 2010 Posted by Unta@Jitra 3 comments
Wow... 40th post already!

Anyway yesterday was Mother's Day and it just so happened that I was in Kedah. I've been a bad boy because last time I was in Kedah, it was 4 months ago. No excuses I know, and being there, enjoying mom's foods and having a great time shopping for my lil sis (coz she's going to Matrik) was great.

I have to be back regularly.

Being in your true home sweet home, it was a nice treatment for the soul and trim out those stress by tonnes. I had the time for visiting my old granpa and having a laugh when he asked to see his 'cicit' hahaha. We're working on that Tok Wan! Went around the Tok's house showing Rozie the place where it used to be my playground when I was still a kid.

The well... it was covered by bushes now but who could forget the coldness of well water? I was so refreshing. Used to, and now they have metered water supply already :)

Before we went back to Putrajaya, Rozie and I bought a special something for Mak. A nice handbag and a water heater. So mak, no more jerang air atas stove lagi lepas ni hehe. I felt good, looking at mak's face. Yeah we didnt have a time to taste the laksa yesterday, but tapau we had.

And tonight, we are going to have laksa for our dinner!

Oh I also bought 2 big bottles of Kicap Maju and Teh Wangi Rose. Only available in Kedah.

Mak's Ayam Percik is still the BEST! Love you Mak! Will be back in June InsyaAllah

Good Musical, Bad Musical

Friday, May 7, 2010 Posted by dueng 9 comments
I'm not a musical person. I don't really watch musical per se. I found that most musical pursuing ballads, show music and theatrical kind of music. Those kind of music somehow not my cup of tea though I admit that I did listen to some ballads songs. However, I found that as long as the musical involved rock songs, I could accept it. I guess, it's all goes back to musical preferences. Bad musical is musical that having no rock music. I just can't tolerate it. Good musical need to have rock music. At least that's for me.

So, I found my love to musical bring me close to Glee. The adventure starts when I first listening to a friends music collection that contains musical mash-up of "It's my life" and "Confessions". And I thought, wow...that's cool. Ok, I been listening to "Don't stop believin" by Glee cast but somehow the mash-up get me attracted to Glee.

Another musical based movie that get me running high is Bandslam. Cool! I could see Vanessa Hudgens in different outfit than her High School Musical outfit. Aly Michalka is awesome, the songs selection just brilliant. I could just sing along and love the song. The storyline wasn't as bad as it could go but wasn't a masterpiece either. In overall, it did have few merits that could score point with musical crowd. Hint: The ska and indie crowd might having fun listening to the musical selection.

Now, I'm off to get the new episode of Glee. :P

Little things that irritates me

Thursday, May 6, 2010 Posted by Soraya Zainal 4 comments
I am not feeling well again this week. I am having sore throat, flu and head ache again... and PMS. So, as my mood is already filled with negativity, I decided to list down my pet peeves.

1.Wet floor in the bathroom
This is my biggest pet peeve. I don't mind if the floor is wet on the shower side (it should be wet, right?). But, if there is no shower in that area (only a sink or a jamban) and the floor is still soaking wet... I will be annoyed, especially if it is in a hotel room. Ape korang main simbah air kat lantai masa cuci muka ke?

2. Slow drivers on the right lane
I am a fast driver and I used the highway everyday to work. It is perfectly 10 minutes from the toll entrance to my office. I can't tolerate people who drives on the fast lane with speedometer below 100km/h. Move your ass to the left lane. Now!

3. People calling me with other than my given name
If you are aware, I don't have any nick names (except for the mIRC nick names that is a must for the obvious reason *duhh*). Most of the people call me Soraya and only people who are close with me can call me Sue. My family called me Hani. If you try to call me with other names, funny or konon-konon sweet nick names, I swear I will not answer your call.

4. Bean sprouts
I hate bean sprouts. Cooked or raw, it still feels euw to my taste buds. So, no teppanyaki for me and you will never... EVER... see my cooking with bean sprouts in it. If the restaurant can't cooked their dish without bean sprouts, I had rather take 5-10 minutes of my time to pick every bean sprouts out from my meal before I eat it.

5. Sales person at the mall who keep on shoving weight loss adverts at my face
I may be as thick as the baobab tree, but I am still very annoyed if they give me that Manhattan once-over* and decided I am their next candidate for pocket weight loss program.

6. Mismatched fork and spoon
I prefer to have my fork and spoon in the same size and pattern. Rasa macam makan tak sedap kalau sudu garpu tak sama corak. That explains why all my fork and spoon in my house is plain, to avoid mismatched fork and spoon.

7. Tangled phone cords
Like my office phone in the picture below:

I tried to untangled it everyday, to no avail. Isk... Maybe this phone cord need to use a better shampoo to avoid tangles. *lame*

    8. Kancil and Kelisa in the parking lot
They always parked their car further in the parking spot and make the space look empty from afar. Okay, not all Kancil & Kelisa, but quite a number of them are!! Imagine this situation:
Ahmad: Eh, there is an empty parking spot ahead!
Ahmad drove his car happily la lala lala to the "empty" spot and find this:

      Familiar?

      9. People who spell like tHiS and "niew" or "kiter" or "aq" or "y" or "jew" or "nyer".
      Sungguh rempit. Enough said.

      * If you are familiar with chick lits, you will know what it means. If not, try www.urbandictionary.com :P

      *****

Last but not least, care to make a guess where did I had my superb breakfast as the picture below?

Wait for my updates next week on Thursday, as usual. Hope that my mood will be okay by then :)

P/s: Haaachummmm and Ouch, stomach cramps = heaven! I wonder will the male species survived if they need to endure this every month... and also the child birth. Can you? -_-"

      Percy Jacksons Series of Book

Wednesday, May 5, 2010 Posted by Anonymous 7 comments
This is a bookworm talking. I will post this second post as a compensation of not writing last week. I just wanted to express that..

I am totally in love of reading all these books! No, I only have the first, second, and fourth books at the moment. Completed the first and second. I haven't got the chance (and money) to buy the whole set. Anyone wanted to give me the whole set as a birthday gift? Kohkohkohkoh

The story of Percy Jackson revolved around the half-blood and Greek mythology, which I always loved to know and hear about it. All the Gods and Goddesses - from Zeus to Hades, Hermes to Athena, the satyr.. mmbekk!! :P

Compared to the movie "Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief" (which is based on the first book), it doesn't do justice although the movie itself is entertaining (which is why I dig the book after knowing it is based on a children book).

Compared to the "Clash of the Titans", I'd rather watch Percy Jackson. Seriously. More humour, more fun, more integration with the real world, it just make your imaginations go wild.

True, some of the facts may not be correct in Percy Jackson, such as "Perseus is Poseidon's son" when in fact it was Zeus, but those incorrect facts are being told of the reason in the books.

*No, I won't tell you why. That is such a spoiler and I hate spoiler."

Ahh... enough ranting. What's your favourite book series?

P/s: You know what I wonder? I wonder why our history or mythology is not as cool as Greeks. Wait, is there any cool mythology in Asia?

While the Big Things In Life Overwhelm Us..

... the little things brings sunshine to our lives. ;)

Whenever you're feeling down - or feeling too busy, remember the quote above. This can also be applied if you're a boss and have all the little minions under you. Notes for today - keep your minion happy by bringing the sunshine over the little things that they do.

      Okay, that's too abstract.

What I mean is: thank them, be grateful for all they've done, recognize them, and praise them for jobs done good. Examples:

      1) You see your employee are wearing nice outfit to office instead of those T-shirts, praise them for efforts on looking good when coming to office.

      2) You see your employee who always keep his long hair suddenly cut his hair, say to them they look young.

      3) Your employee stays back to finish their works and put his efforts to complete the project as soon as possible, be grateful and say it to them.

And many more small gestures that you can do to make their life brighter. They will always appreciate it and feel very energetic to work.

The problem with most leaders are the forgetfulness of being grateful and saying thanks. Even for a smallest effort, if it is done out of their goodwill, thank them. Smile. You can make your working environment to be better.

So.. that's the tips for today. :)

P/s: Yeah, my boss say I do look younger when I cut my hair. Productivity +100. Seriously. HEHEHEHEHEHE :P

      The Walking Dead

Tuesday, May 4, 2010 Posted by Dils 4 comments
I am not feeling my best today. Try as I can, I find myself hating anything I want to write. So I want to leave a little piece of TV news and comment a bit about it.

They are making a TV series about zombies. Its about damn time, I say.

It is from a graphic novel called The Walking Dead.

The leads are reported to be played by Andrew Lincoln and Sarah Wayne Callies (from Prison Break fame). The story according to http://www.hiddenrobot.com/WALKINGDEAD/story.html

An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV.
Rick Grimes finds himself one of the few survivors in this terrifying future. A couple months ago he was a small town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family, he must now sort through all the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living.

The filming should start around this week and debut at the US this fall. I myself, can't wait. There'd been too much vampires series, not enough zombies. I just hope it don't sucks.

Now I am finding myself itching to buy the graphic novel series while waiting for the pilot to debut. Gah!

Dils likes watching gore. But not too much unnecessary gore e.g. SAW and Hostel. Those kinda thing only make her sick

      #007 - New keyboard

      Monday, May 3, 2010 Posted by Unta@Jitra 1 comments
Haha couldn't think of a better title

Well, last Saturday, I decided to tour KL together with wifey and her cousin from PLKN, just to show the kid 'pusing2' KL. After the obligatory Petronas Twin Tower visit, I decided to go to Low Yat, thinking that I need to catch up with the latest tech that shopping mall could provide.

      Total damage = Rm200++

      LOL

      Bought a new Logitech keyboard
      - black, so no more keyboard washing... looking at the old keyboard makes me wanna puke.

      Netbook skin
      - from Hydra... skull design

      Another fail mouse pad
      - I have "Run on Shine" A4Tech mouse, no problem on any surface BUT the mousepad. Just WTF! My PC table was getting dirtier so I thought, a mousepad wouldn't hurt. Bought a new one, and the mouse response drop to shit. Switched to another ancient paper mousepad Rozie gave me, and it worked miraculously. Stupid mouse!

      320GB Buffalo hard disk
      - Been wishing to buy an extra portable hard disk since 2006 and 4 years later, it was fulfilled!

I'm that kind of whatyoucallit impulse buyer. As long as I have a good amount of cash in my wallet, I'd go to a 'buy first regret later' mode. Lucky I didn't have a credit card or it would be a disaster.

In one shop, I just stare at awe :O looking at the latest motherboard on display. Fuckin heatpipes on a mobo? Damn I was outdated! Not to mention all the high end graphic card, big as a brick!

Maybe it was time for me to upgrade my pc... just maybe

Went to check on the smartphones as well. It was amazing what smartphones can do nowadays. I tested one I had in mind to buy, the HTC Legend. RM2k pricetag, solid phone, Android summore. It was a beauty to hold.

Again, (un)lucky for me to have ZERO credit card or else, I have playing with my latest big boys toy right now and skip today's post hahahaha.

Just a thought... how long does the 'ciwi' (uber-happy-godek2-play2-with new thing) feeling last? 5 minutes? 24 hours? This thought kept my brain sane, negating all the impulse to grab the new toy by borrowing Rozie's credit card, only to regret later when the bill comes.

I survived smartphone attack, will I survive Les Paul guitar? Or XBOX? Time will tell...
