Things that happened in a chic lit or chic flick that never seems to happen in real life

- No matter how crappy your job is or how you bemoan the state of your finance, you can always afford to live by yourself in that cute apartment.
- That also include on how you always can afford to buy that designer dress or shoes.
- You never sweat. Ever. Even when you are jogging. And especially if you are chasing after the man you love telling him that you love him. Only out of breath.
- But if you do, your hair would always look put together.
- When you bump into a cute guy, a "Meet Cute" would happened and thus either the guy, asked for your number OR he would somehow keep on showing up on various events on your life. Including work, functions, supermarket/groceries shopping or someone's wedding. This can even be your wedding he showed up to.
- You will always be clumsy in front of the cute guy. Even if before this you're not. Because heaven help us if a woman is shown as having confidence in herself.
- That guy is usually a millionaire. Even if he's not, he will totally be one.
- You will be crap at your work or have a crappy job. But suddenly after some ridiculous tribulations and minimal effort, the higher up would love you and promoted you.
- Oh, also. And the heroine portrayed as a girl next door type of girl, is usually played by some incredibly beautiful woman or even a supermodel or Miss World. You don't stand a chance at happiness if you are a little bit chubby. Apatah lagi obese.
Bah. I can only think of 9 things. Feel free to add more!
Dils still loves a good chick flick/chic lit even if at times it can be a bit ludicrous. Favorite chick flick: While you were sleeping. Favorite chic lit: Bridget Jones Diary.

A man question: what's the difference between chick lit and chick flick?
Chick lit - chick literature. E.g. PS I Love You, Confessions of a Shopaholic.
Chick flick - romance movie for chicks. e.g. Sleepless in Seattle, Maid in Manhattan.
the guys almost always are not computer programmers/network engineer/sys admin/help desk or anything related to IT except for Crash Overide in the film Hackers, which is not really a chick-flick but include hot Angelina Jolie as a hot hacker chick.
i found that people love to be in denial...even for a while. hence the chic thingy.
the same reason why people watching action movies, indulge in wizards and zombie and ultimately pornography. cause real world sucks big time.
also, if normal people life being portrayed on screen, it would be a bore. right?
can i has a twisted-gory-whodunit chic lit?
oxymoron... pardon me
lol
i was introduced to chic lit by Rozie, reading the whole Kinsella line of Shopaholic books, which i found quite interesting but no way in hell that will ever happen in real life... hahahhaha
can i safely say books written by Sidney Sheldon, a chic lit? most of them are heroine-focused books, albeit the thriller
Guy flick - romance movie for guy?? e.g. Notting Hill.
And yes, usually u are a god damn loser who is actually is a nice guy and work in a not so profitable bookstore which sale traveling books, when one day, a beautiful, rich and famous lady come into ur bookstore, and then, the story begins.
Taqi:
I think the story where the geeks get the girls, now have a new whole new genre started by Judd Apatow.
Itu memang geek flicks.
Mangifera:
Yups, yups. Tu biasa la. Sampai biography film pon add up some fantastic elements to make it watchable. Padahal tak pernah berlaku pon.
Unta:
Nope. Chic lit is a romance/coming of age/revelation/divorce story balance with a dash of comedy and humour in it. That is my opinion kut. And of course mestilah heroine as the center.
But kalau gitu James Patterson pon boleh dikatakan chic lit (aside from the popular Alex Cross series, he wrote the Women Murder Club series that is hugely popular). And James Patterson nye murder series cannot be considered as chic lit wooo.
actual def of chick lit taken from wiki:
Chick lit is genre fiction within women's fiction which addresses issues of modern women often humorously and lightheartedly.
iceroll:
Hahaha. Sebab guys love the movie. Aku tak pernah habis tengok. Rase bosan. And mungkin sebab kurang gemarkan Julia Roberts.
Guy flick = Knocked Up, She's Out of My League. Mungkin sebelum kehadiran Judd Apatow, Notting Hill boleh la kut consider.
hehe tadi nak tanye gak whats the diff between chic lit and chic flick, rupe2nye adeq dah tanye dulu!
hoho never knew the differences. ingatkan sama jer.. :p
but anyways, i'm a sucker for all movies mentioned above. hehe. guilty as charged. ;)
mostly chick flick ni best ditengok di kala hari jumaat kerna tak payah pikir panjang and boleh gelak gelak. Tapi memang best. Hehe
